AKIPRESS.COM - The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) conducted a training for more than 100 teachers from about 50 secondary school and kindergartens in Chui, Naryn, Osh and Batken oblasts from October 7 to 23.

The training was organised as part of AKF’s Schools 2030 initiative with support from its Local Impact Project. The aim of this initiative is to form and develop hygiene life skills in general education and preschool educational institutions to create a friendly and safe educational environment and prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Participants of the training learned the method of ensuring effective hygiene and sanitation measures among children in educational institutions.

A primary school teacher at the T.Otunchiev school, Gulcha village, Alai district Alibayeva Aizhamal marked the role of teachers in maintaining hygiene among children. "I used to pay attention only to the general educational process in my classroom, now after the trainings I realized that I am also responsible for the development of positive life skills in the field of hygiene. During the training, I realized how important and necessary it is to develop hygiene skills in practice, because hygiene issues are important both for children personally, but it is also important to remember and apply this knowledge in the classroom, at school, at home, in the village where they live," Alibayeva Aizhamal said.

The training was conducted based on the methodological guidance: "Development of life skills in the field of hygiene", worked out on the basis of the platform of the Republican Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Teachers under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.

"Schools2030" is carried out within the framework of cooperation in the field of education between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and Aga Khan Foundation’s Mountain Communities Development Support Program.
