U.S. Embassy in Bishkek to resume routine visa appointments in December

AKIPRESS.COM - The Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy will open visa interview appointments for all visa services starting on December 1, 2021, for the first time in more than a year and a half. To ensure the health and safety of applicants and staff, limited admission, strict social distancing, and masking protocols will remain in effect for all visitors to the Embassy.

“The heart of the relationship between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States comes from our people-to-people ties. We welcome the resumption of routine visa services, including tourist visas, to support our close friendship, built over the last 30 years,” remarked U.S. Embassy Bishkek Charge d’Affaires Sonata Coulter.

She also emphasized that, “We hope that this re-opening is a sign that the worst of the COVID epidemic is behind us, but continue to encourage everyone to make the right choice and get vaccinated.”

Interested visa applicants can review application requirements and other information on our webpage and schedule appointments here.

Effective Monday November 8, travel requirements to enter the United States are changing, and foreign travelers will be required to demonstrate proof of vaccination against COVID with a vaccine approved or authorized by the FDA, or a vaccine with an Emergency Use Listing from the World Health Organization. Up-to-date information on current requirements may be found on the CDC’s COVID-19 website.

The U.S. Embassy had suspended routine visa interviews in March 2020 due to State Department guidelines at the onset of COVID-19, while continuing to provide American Citizen Services, interviews for student, employment and diversity visas, and emergency tourism visa appointments. Current State Department guidelines allow the U.S. Embassy to conduct visa interviews while adhering to strict COVID-19 precautions.
