AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization summit in Ashgabat.

Development of further cooperation between two countries was in focus of discussions.

Implementation of new cooperation projects in industry, effective use of transit potential of the two states and promotion of cultural and humanitarian exchange programs were considered. Importance of ramping up institutional mechanisms of cooperation was emphasized to promote increasing the volume of bilateral trade.

The two leaders paid special attention to regional issues in the light of the current situation in Afghanistan, as well as maintenance of a close dialogue within international organizations.
