OSCE Chairperson-in-Office welcomes ceasefire agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

AKIPRESS.COM - OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Zbigniew Rau has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan following the developments at the border.

"I support de-escalation, call for resolving issues through peaceful means," he said.

OSCE will continue to monitor the situation, ready to assist Kygyzstan and Tajikistan if requested, he added.

On January 27, Tajik troops opened fire from mortar into the duty station of internal troops of Kyrgyzstan. A house of a Kyrgyz citizen was burnt as a result of fire opened by Tajik military personnel.
