
AKIPRESS.COM - A sheep of French breed Ile de France was presented at an exhibition in the village of Sokuluk, Chui region on January 29.
The Ile de France is a large, smooth-bodied, polled mutton sheep. The breed is renowned for its unique carcass qualities and excellent growth rates.
According to cattle breeder Pardabai Abdraimov, this sheep belongs to the white fleece breed. There are more than 20 species of merino in the world. Ile de France at the age of 2 weighs 110 kg.
Ewes of this breed cost $1,000 and rams cost $2,000.
"I haven't heard about this breed being imported into Kyrgyzstan before. Last year, I brought this breed sheep aged 1. Together with the transportation cost, the animal cost $1,400," he said.
