Canadian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan presents his credentials to President Japarov

AKIPRESS.COM - Ambassador of Canada to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan Alan Hamson presented his credentials to President Sadyr Japarov on March 15.

"I am honored to present credentials to his Excellency President Japarov.

2022 is an important year for our countries, as it marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and the Kyrgyz Republic. I am proud to be taking on the role of the Ambassador at such an important time.

Over these years, our countries have partnered on a number of important issues, including healthcare and education, democratic development, and water management. Canada and Canadian investors have been present in the development of the Kyrgyz Republic almost from its independence. Building on our history of cooperation, I hope that current investment issues are resolved promptly and fairly. A stable and transparent business environment will encourage domestic and foreign investors.

I look forward to working together on important issues, including the present crisis in global security. There is no place in the 21st century for wars of aggression which violate international norms on state sovereignty and territorial integrity: not in Europe and not in Central Asia. I regret the difficult economic impacts that are impacting this region from the international sanctions that are necessary to respond to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

I also hope to cooperate on long term challenges, such as climate change.

The Kyrgyz Republic and Canada have had strong cooperation also in multilateral forums and international organizations. I hope that this partnership will only grow stronger.

I look forward towards the next phase of our bilateral relations," Ambassador Alan Hamson said.
