15-year-old girl from Issyk-Kul learns Turkish to have an operation

AKIPRESS.COM - 53-year-old Omurbek Osmonov from Kurmontu village in Issyk-Kul region asks to help his 15-year-old daughter Shirin, who has a serious health condition, Turmush reported.

Shirin is the eldest of three children. When she was 10 months old, her spine began curving to the left. The doctors then told the family that there's a problem in lumbar vertebrae, and the surgery would help. Now Shirin is 15, and has an option to perform the surgery in Turkey for $24,000. The one fifth of the sum was donated by the relatives and other villagers.

Gulmira Ogombaeva, Shirin's mother, noted that she helps her daughter to carry school bag, as it is difficult for a girl.

"Shirin cannot run fast and doesn't sleep well. She's an excellent student who knows English well, as she wants to become a translator, to work abroad. We really need help of fellow Kyrgyzstanis, including the first lady Aigul Japarova's help," Gulmira added.

Shirin noted that she's been learning English since the third grade.

"I speak fluent English. The surgery will be in Turkey, so I'm learning Turkish on my own. If the surgery is successful, I hope that my dream of working in Switzerland or Germany will come true," the girl said.
