130-m long Kyrgyz shyrdak ashore Song-Kol lake

AKIPRESS.COM - The festival of Kyrgyz shyrdak (felt carpet) was held in Song-Kol pasture in Naryn region on July 22, Turmush reports.

Association of needlewomen Altyn-Kol-Naryn from Kochkor district made 130-meters long shyrdak. 70 women from all districts of Naryn region participated.

The main purpose of the festival is to popularize Kyrgyz carpets and enter the Guinness World Records book. It took about a year to make the shyrdak.

Sadagul Sadykova, initiator of the idea of creating the longest shyrdak from Kochkor district, said the Altyn-Kol-Naryn association was founded in 1996. Since then the craftswomen are engaged in the production of various products for sale.
