Jalal-Abad region villager revives old water mill that belonged to his father

AKIPRESS.COM - Resident of Toktogul district of Jalal-Abad region Omurbek Osmonbekov works at a water mill. He got it from his father.

Osmonbekov lives in village of Bel-Aldy. He has been a miller for 30 years. His father taught him to work at the mill, when Osmonbekov helped him at the mill located near the river. The boy redirected the flow of water and watched the stone millstones.

Osmonbekov inherited the mill in 1992. Until recent times, the demand to grind wheat in such a mill was not high. The situation changed in the past two years, and the villagers began to grow wheat, grind it at the mill.

The miller now grinds up to 6 bags of wheat per day. Since the sown areas for wheat have increased, his mill became popular.

Osmonbekov says that some citizens are surprised that he managed to keep such a mill. Residents come from the settlements of Council, Shopok, Bel-Aldy and Toluk.

"Many people look at a water mill and think that the design is simple. But in fact, there are some nuances and troubles. I studied with my father, so I decided to pass on knowledge to my children. But it turned out to be uninteresting for them," Osmonbekov said.

He is 59 years old and has six children.
