UNICEF Regional Director visiting Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Afshan Khan, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in major international events dedicated to children.

Current issues of interaction between Uzbekistan and UNICEF were discussed, as well as long-term plans for further strengthening the partnership were outlined at the meeting, UzA reported.

Afshan Khan noted with satisfaction the dynamics of the development of Uzbekistan's cooperation with UNICEF in recent years, the intensification of bilateral contacts on the organization and holding of major joint events and projects in the country.

She highlighted the key role of Uzbekistan in the region in implementing practical reforms in comprehensive support for children, including creating favorable conditions for them to receive a quality education.

The UNICEF Regional Director highly appreciated the holding of the Second World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education in Tashkent these days, which promotes a broad exchange of best practices to ensure universal, fair and high-quality education.

The parties expressed interest in further deepening fruitful interaction with UNICEF to achieve concrete results in the interests of children and youth, including within the framework of the implementation of the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026.
