AKIPRESS.COM - Hundreds of Batken residents will receive critical-need items from the United States as part of a larger U.S. effort to support affected citizens in the region. This aid was made possible through cooperation between the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek and the Ministry of Emergency Situations to coordinate a U.S. Department of Defense humanitarian aid cargo flight that delivered these supplies.
The cargo flight included bed frames, mattresses, bedding, and winter clothing for displaced Batken residents. The Ministry of Emergency Situations identified these items as critical to supporting the humanitarian needs of Kyrgyzstanis affected by the border violence in Batken Oblast. The Ministry of Emergency Situations will distribute this assistance, providing relief to those affected.
This support is in addition to hygiene kits and 8 million KGS ($100,000) in cash assistance provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and distributed by international and local partners in the Kyrgyz Republic. The cash assistance and kits helped meet the needs of thousands of people, including children, in Batken Oblast.
