AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, with the support of the USAID, organized a conference on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, UzA reported.

The main goal of the event is to develop proposals for maximizing the benefits and minimizing possible negative consequences of membership, studying the experience of joining the WTO, modeling the assessment of the impact of Uzbekistan’s accession to the Organization on the national economy and its legal system.

The participants got acquainted with the current state and tasks for further enhancing Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.

WTO Deputy Director General Xiangchen Zhang highly appreciated the active and systematic work carried out by the Uzbek side in preparing and organizing the fifth meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, noted the current consistent steps to further advance the process of the country’s accession to the Organization.

Following the conference, the participants spoke in favor of active cooperation between representatives of state bodies, international organizations and scientific-educational institutions within the framework of the WTO Chair Programme.
