Former chairman of Turkish Airlines to help reform Uzbekistan Airways

AKIPRESS.COM - A team of Turkish specialist Ilker Ayci, the former chairman of Turkish Airlines in 2015-2022, was involved to reform Uzbekistan Airways, gazeta.uz reported.

He presented proposals for the transformation of Uzbekistan Airways to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on December 14, the presidential press service says.

Under the leadership of Ilker Ayci, Turkish Airlines evolved from a regional to a global player in the passenger air travel market, the press service noted.

"Today Uzbekistan Airways faces similar challenges. It is planned to turn our country into an international transport hub, effectively using its geographic location and aviation infrastructure," the press service emphasized.

It is planned to introduce corporate governance systems based on international experience to Uzbekistan Airways, increase the aircraft fleet, improve the quality of service and expand the cargo transportation network. With the involvement of foreign investors, the privatization of the airline will be completed.
