How Kyrgyzstan will remember 2022?

AKIPRESS.COM - 2022 was a busy year for Kyrgyzstan, both positive and tragic, when an armed conflict with Tajikistan occurred on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border in September. The number of victims reached 63 people, more than 160 people were injured. More than 136,000 people were displaced.

1. Dmitry Bivol defeats modern box champion

Boxer, WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol defeated one of the strongest boxers in the world, regardless of weight category, and world champion in four weight categories, Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez by unanimous decision.

The fight took place on May 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA).

 

2. Raising salaries

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers on May 13 told teachers in Toguz-Bulak village of Tyup district in Issyk-Kul region about plans to annually increase the salaries of teachers and doctors by 20%.

The salaries of teachers, doctors and cultural workers were raised in April.

 

3. Base of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Border Service of the State National Security Committee

On September 13, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Sadyr Japarov opened the base of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Border Service of the State National Security Committee. The event was also attended by chairman of the State National Security Committee Kamchybek Tashiev.

Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles are piloted by officers of the Border Service who have undergone appropriate training. This is the first cohort of border servicemen guarding the state border in the sky.

 

4. Welcoming national wrestling team of Kyrgyzstan

The national team of Kyrgyzstan was solemnly welcomed at the airport in the morning of September 15. They took part in the World Wrestling Championship in Belgrade (Serbia), where they won two gold medals.

5. Exploded 36-meter bridge across the Ak-Suu river in Batken region

The Tajik military blew up the bridge on the section of the Dacha-Chaykhana road, on the 7th km of Kok-Tash-Ak-Sai-Tamdyk road on September 17. It was later restored.

 

6. Tajikistan's invasion of Kyrgyzstan

President Sadyr Japarov made an appeal to the people of Kyrgyzstan on September 19 in connection with the armed conflict on September 14-17 on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

He addressed the mothers of the victims, saying that they gave birth to real heroes, whose heroism will remain in the memory of all citizens.

"Today is a day of mourning for the dead. The people of Kyrgyzstan are proud of such heroes. Thanks to them, no one will be able to cross our borders," he said.

Every citizen showed their dedication when they learned about the armed conflict, the President noted. Assistance points were organized throughout the country, which sent the aid to Batken. Japarov expressed gratitude to the people.

 

7. Burnt poultry farm

A poultry farm was burnt down on the Bakai site. It was constructed for $300,000-400,000, according to the villagers.

The owner of the poultry farm, entrepreneur from Ak-Sai in Batken region Matisa Kadyrov, was killed. Information about the death of Matisa Kadyrov was also confirmed by his brother Matmusa Kadyrov.

 

8. Meeting of Sadyr Japarov, Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon in Astana on October 13

They discussed issues of Kyrgyz-Tajik state border section.

Putin called the meeting between Japarov and Rahmon constructive.

 

9. Ratification of agreements with Uzbekistan

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Head of the State National Security Committee Kamchybek Tashiev on November 17 provided information about the bills regarding certain sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border to the Parliament.

 

10. People's kurultay

The first people's kurultay (assembly) was held in Bishkek with the participation of President Sadyr Japarov on November 25-26. The kurultay was attended by more than 1,000 delegates from all regions of the country, as well as representatives of migrants staying abroad and religious denominations.
