1. Foreign tourists escape glacier collapse on Juuku pass in Issyk-Kul region

Glacier collapsed on the Juuku pass of the Terskei Ala-Too range in Issyk-Kul region on July 8. This moment was captured on camera by foreign tourists, who eyewitnessed the avalanche.

The avalanche descended when the foreign tourists were passing across Juuku. They managed to escape the avalanche just 5 minutes before the area was covered with masses of ice.

 

2. Entire Japanese government resigns

The entire Japanese government has resigned on August 10, Kyodo news agency reported.

The new Japanese government led by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is expected to be announced soon.

Originally, the government reshuffle was supposed to be carried out in early September, but the PM decided to dismiss the goverment earlier due to the need to accelerate promotion of his new economic concept and to take measures agaist rising food and fuel prices.

 

3. SpaceX suggests Mongolia to cooperate on energy consumption and transport projects

Elon Musk's Starlink project will be implemented in Mongolia, and the country will partner with SpaceX on projects to reduce energy consumption and traffic congestion in Ulaanbaatar.

Elon Musk's Starlink Internet was discussed in Mongolia last May. Ministry of Digital Development and Communications of Mongolia, SpaceX President Gwynn Shotwell and Elon Musk's team held negotiations online.

In addition to the Starlink project, SpaceX announced the possibility of implementing the SolarCity and Hyperloop projects using renewable energy sources to reduce urban transport congestion in Mongolia.

 

4. Tokayev orders to develop oil export routes bypassing Russia

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered to diversify Kazakh oil exports and prioritized Trans-Caspian route at the government meeting on transport and transit capacity.

The President instructed the national oil and gas company KazMunayGaz to develop the mechanism of this route export, if possible with involvement of Tengiz project investors.

The government was ordered to increase the capacity of Atyrau-Kenkiyak and Kenkiyak-Kumkol pipelines.

The Trans-Caspian international transport route starts in China, runs through Kazakhstan, reaches the Caspian Sea and then goes to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, allowing transportation of goods to Europe. This route will allow Kazakhstan to supply oil and other products bypassing the territory of Russia.

Lonely Planet named Kyrgyzstan one of the best countries to travel to in 2019.

Kyrgyzstan is "a nation defined by its natural beauty. Joyously unspoilt mountainscapes, stark craggy ridges and rolling jailoos (summer pastures) are brought to life by semi-nomadic, yurt-dwelling shepherds," it wrote.

Lonely Planet suggested taking home yurt-shaped souvenirs, felt slippers and hats, traditional handmade clothes and accessories, chuchuk (sausage from horse meat), kurut, national drinks, Kyrgyz chocolate, Kyrgyz cognac, Arashan herbal liqueur, backgammon and jewelry.

6. Kazakhstan respects Ukraine's territorial integrity, says first deputy head of Kazakh presidential administration

Kazakhstan respects Ukraine's territorial integrity, does not recognize Crimea as Russian and will stand by UN decisions on the issue, said First Deputy Chief of Staff of the President's Office of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov.

 

7. AKDN Representative presents copies of credentials to Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan

Diplomatic Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Kyrgyzstan Barkat Fazal presented copies of his credentials to Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev on March 9 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bishkek.

The two sides discussed on-going collaboration between the AKDN and the Kyrgyz Republic in various sectors, including education, access to financial services, rural development, and culture, as part of their efforts to improve the quality of life of the peoples in the country.

 

8. Licenses of 12 private medical schools to be recalled in Kyrgyzstan

Licenses of 12 private medical schools will be recalled, Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said in Parliament today.

"The decisions on remaining 5 schools will be made before April 1. It will be known within a month what school will train future doctors," Health Minister Beishenaliev said.

 

9. 17 private medical schools may be shut down in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Health plans to shut down 17 private medical schools, Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said.

"We recalled licenses of two public universities - National University, Agrarian Academy. 17 private schools may be closed if they do not find clinical sites and do not create required training conditions," the Health Minister said.

10. Kyrgyz Health Ministry recalling licenses of 12 private medical schools

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan is recalling licenses of 12 private medical schools over failure of their clinical training sites to meet the requirements.

A special commission of the Ministry of Health will continue check of the remaining 5 private medical schools until March 15.
