AKIPRESS.COM - A freight train with wind power equipment left China’s Lanzhou for Zarafshan, Uzbekistan, UzA says.
Masdar and China’s Goldwind signed a contract in October to supply 111 turbines for a future 500 MW wind farm in Zarafshan.
The cargo weighing 260 tons is estimated at more than 3.5 million Chinese yuan ($515,000).
The train proceeded by rail to Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The containers were loaded onto trailers, which crossed the border with Kyrgyzstan through Irkeshtam to transit from there to Uzbekistan.
Goods from China to Uzbekistan are usually transported through a logistics center in Khorgos, Kazakhstan. The new route will shorten the journey by 500 kilometers and speed up delivery by 3-5 days.
