AKIPRESS.COM - Adylbek Adiev, a small livestock farmer from Saruu village in Jety-Oguz district of Issyk-Kul region, shared his cattle breeding experience with Turmush regional news service.
Around 7-8 years ago, he purchased Hissar sheep from Shymkent city, Kazakhstan. These sheep were mainly for meat production and were reasonably priced, so he decided to give them a try. To breed pedigree cattle, Adiev began cross-breeding his sheep.
He also purchased Dolan breed lambs, which are considered one of the best in the world due to their rarity, weighing capacity, and quick growth, Adiev said. Currently, Adiev's farm also has Arashan sheep, which are best for quick weight gain and have received positive feedback from experts at two exhibitions.
The Dolan breed is the most expensive sheep breed globally, valued for its rarity and weight gain. There are only believed to be around 1,000 such sheep in existence. This breed was initially bred in China.
Dolan sheep can grow to a considerable size in 6 months weighing up to 90 kilos, but nowadays, this sheep is bred mainly for its cuteness.
The cost of a sheep of this breed can reach 2 million dollars depending on various parameters such as floppy ears and high-bridged nose.
