
AKIPRESS.COM - The II Tulip Festival was held in the laboratory of flower and ornamental plants of the Botanical Garden named after E. Gareev on April 12.
Kyrgyzstan has 25 types of tulips. 11 species are listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan, 8 species are endemic. 20 out of 25 species are grown in the Botanical Garden. 30 varieties of tulips are grown in the garden. Some types of tulips in the wild are found only in Kyrgyzstan and nowhere else in the world, the Botanical Garden reported.
The festival was attended by MP Emil Zhamgyrchiev, French Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Francois Delaus, Chairman of the Department of Chemical Technology, Biomedical and Agricultural Sciences, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences Kayyrkul Shalpykov and other guests.
The participants were shown a collection of tulips from the Botanical Garden, were taken on a tour of the greenhouse, and tasted tea with medicinal herbs from the Botanical Garden collection.
