SCO Business Forum held in New Delhi

AKIPRESS.COM - The Shanghai Cooperation Organization SCO Business Council Secretariat, India conducted this Strategic Forum by not only involving the Chairs of the National Part of SCO Business Council, Member States (India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan), but also, for the first time, gave due focus to Dialogue Partners (Nepal, Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka etc.) and Observer States (Mongolia, Belarus, Iran and Afghanistan). It was heartening to note the personal presence of the Ambassador of Nepal & Mongolia besides high-level representations from other embassies in India.

India assumed the Presidency of the 9-member SCO group in September 2022. In consonance with the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi Ji & the Hon’ble Foreign Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, issues relating to “Regional cooperation, economic connectivity and cultural integration” and India’s commitment for “Deepening its engagement with the SCO and its member states”, were respectively given due focus during yesterday’s proceedings of the SCO Business Forum, on 2nd May 2023, at Federation House, FICCI – the Headquarters of the SCO Business Council Secretariat, during the SCO Presidency of India.

The Chairman of the SCO Business Council Secretariat, Mr Tribhuvan Darbari from the Republic of India & Mr. Kanavsky Sergey Vadimovich - Executive Secretary of the SCO Business Council, steered the day long proceedings with the Chairmen of National Part of SCO Business Council from Member States, for evolving a Road Map for Economic Cooperation between the SCO Member States, for ensuring smooth operationalisation of the vision of The Chairman & Members of Council of Heads of States (The Top Decision Making Body in the SCO) as well as The Chairman and Members of the Council of the Heads of the Government (The Second Highest in the SCO Organization (consisting of the Heads of Government of the Member Countries), respectively

The Hon’ble Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs and Education, Government of India reiterated India’s endeavour for skill upgradation, giving the example of the Skill India programme. He also mentioned India’s focus on reaching the net zero goal and mentioned that India has promised to cut its emissions to net zero by 2070 at the 26 COP summits, apropos the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.

Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari, Chairman of the SCO Business Council Secretariat from Republic of India, who is also Managing Director & CEO, Texmaco Defence Systems Pvt Ltd. and Chief Executive, Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd. & Resident Director, Adventz Group Fertilizer Group of Companies proposed a “SCO Working Group” in the sector of IT/ITeS, to foster knowledge exchange for human development and business growth & proposed setting up of “SCO Centre for Excellence for Emerging Technologies”, based on the deliberations of the sessions on Synergies in IT & ITES : Strengths & opportunities in SCO Countries conducted by Dr. Pavan Duggal, Conference Director, International Conference on Cyberlaw Metaverse & Law.

Based on the Suggestions of Chairman, Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari, Mr. Pradeep Kharola, CMD, ITPO, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India committed to have a special “SCO Pavilion” during the forthcoming Indian International Trade Fair, to be held from 14th to 29th of November 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. He further reiterated about the bridging the connectivity gap through regular participation of the SCO Member States in Exhibitions & Trade Fairs being organized by various SCO Member Countries.

While concluding the deliberation, Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari also proposed for the consideration of the SCO Member Nations, for inclusion in the SCO calendar of events, programs on “Women Empowerment for Entrepreneurship development” & “Medical Value Travel” as also a program on “Advantage Healthcare India”, which was highly appreciated by the international participants.
