AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan delegation visited the headquarters of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Madrid (Spain) to discuss preparations for the 25th-anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly. It will be held on 16-20 October this year in Samarkand, UzA reported.

The upcoming meeting participants will be shown Uzbekistan's rich culture, tourism potential, and investment attractiveness.

During the visit, the First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Azamov, UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, and the Rector of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov signed a memorandum on the establishment of the UNWTO International Academy of Tourism in Samarkand.

Establishing the academy will further strengthen the 30-year cooperation between UNWTO and Uzbekistan. It will train specialists in tourism based on international experience and best foreign practices.
