Conference on renewable energy sources takes place in Bishkek

AKIPRESS.COM - A scientific conference on renewable energy sources was held in Bishkek on June 17. About thirty young leaders from the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan offered their solutions in research papers and project proposals.

The researchers presented projects on wind generation, a fusion reactor, solar panels, wind farms, and renewable energy education.

The conference a part of Winds of Change project implemented by the C5+1 Youth Council, a youth leadership program implemented by the American Council on International Education with the support of the US Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

The Winds of Change also supports the project of construction and installation of a wind turbine in Balykchy Canal. According to project manager Begimay Kuleshova, the power of the turbine will be 1 kW. The generated energy will be used to illuminate the water intake area.

The team's research showed that the number of windy days and wind speeds in Balykchy are best suited for the turbine.

"Our technical team assembles the turbines from locally sourced components. We will install this turbine in early July," the team member explained.

The best presentation of the conference was "Thermonuclear Fusion as a Source of Renewable Energy" by Anton Kharchevsky from Osh State University.

According to Kharchevsky, a reactor where plasma is held by a magnet can be built on the territory of the country.

Bakhodir Izzatulloev from Tashkent State University made a presentation on solar panels. The number of sunny days on the territory of Uzbekistan makes solar energy affordable. In addition, the author suggests replacing cotton fields with fields with solar panels as one of the ways to improve the ecology of the region.
