AKIPRESS.COM - The Archival Service under the Ministry of Digital Development shared a photo from the funds of Issyk-Kul Regional Department.
The photo shows the Dungan mosque in Karakol.
It dates from 1930, or 93 years ago.
Dungan refugees from China moved to Karakol in 1877 and founded a community there. Architect from Beijing Zhou Su was invited to the city in 1907. He, together with a group of builders, began to prepare materials for the future mosque.
Preparations were carried out for 3 years. The Dungan mosque, made in the traditions of Chinese architecture, was built in 1910. The design of the mosque traces the architectural style of the Qin era.
