AKIPRESS.COM - A unique jug was found in Jeti-Oguz district of Issyk-Kul region, the head of the museum named after Kalen Zhetimishbaev, Murat Zhetimishbaev, said.
A week ago an ancient jug 42 cm high, 51 cm wide and weighing 5 kg was found in Jeti-Oguz, the head noted.
"Next to the jug were human bones. This area was periodically washed away by water, so these objects came to the surface over time. It is not yet known what century the jug belongs to, but it looks like it was made of ceramics in the Ferghana Valley. When I contacted historians and archaeologists, they told me that the find was really unique," M. Zhetimishbaev explained.
The area where the jug was found will remain secret for some time, the head added.
"Archaeologists are expected to arrive in autumn to study the area where this jug was found. The jug is well preserved and was made with high quality," Zhetimishbaev noted.
