Criminal probe against Wagner chief terminated

AKIPRESS.COM - The criminal probe into mutiny by Wagner private military company has been terminated, Tass reported with reference to the Federal Security Service.

During criminal investigation it was established that its participants on June 24 stopped actions leading to crime. In view of that and other circumstances, the investigation authority made the decision to terminate the criminal case on June 27," the Federal Security Service said.

The Russian Defense Ministry said preparations are in progress on takeover of heavy weaponry from Wagner PMC to armed forces of Russia.

On June 23, chief of Wagner private military company Eugeny Prigozhin accused the Defense Ministry of strike attack on its camp and promised to respond. The Defense Ministry denied accusations. The Federal Security Service said the criminal case was launched against Prigozhin for preparation of mutiny. On the morning of June 24, the Wagner chief said his fighters were controlling military objects in Rostov. President Putin called the developments betrayal.
