
AKIPRESS.COM - Pope Francis arrived in Mongolia on Friday morning for a visit to support one of the smallest and newest Catholic communities in the world.
The Pope has arrived in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, starting his 43rd apostolic journey, which will end on September 4.
Pope Francis was greeted at the Chinggis Khan International Airport by Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh, Chargé d'Affaires at the Apostolic Nunciature to Mongolia Fernando Duarte Barros Reis, and Mongolian Ambassador to Vatican Gerelmaa Davaasuren, and later by the church and the government.
His official meetings and events begin on Saturday morning.
This is the first time the Pope has visited landlocked Mongolia.
