AKIPRESS.COM - Samarkand hosted an International Conference on Food Security with the technical support of FAO, UzA reported.
The event, with the participation of almost 100 representatives of companies from 26 countries, discussed effective reforms in the agricultural sector carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, ongoing projects, and plans for the future.
Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov focused on further developing international cooperation in the agricultural sector, the need to learn from the experience of advanced countries, and contribute to ensuring food security through the broader use of modern technologies.
FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu noted that the conference was held at a high level, and many valuable proposals and initiatives were provided that are necessary for the development of the industry. He also emphasized that adopting the Samarkand Declaration was a significant event in the activities of FAO.
After the plenary session of the Investment Forum, B2B and G2B meetings took place. Representatives of business circles from almost 30 countries exchanged experiences. Many agreements have been reached within which direct investments, funds from international financial institutions, and grants will be attracted, and relevant documents have been signed.
A scientific forum "Research and innovation in agriculture in Central Asia and the Caucasus" was held. The conference participants got acquainted with the activities of enterprises producing agricultural products in Samarkand region.
