15 soldiers die during military service - National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - The National Human Rights Commission conducted a basic survey involving about 1,500 staff of 16 units and of the Armed Forces in Mongolia. A sample study was conducted on 126 criminal cases. The survey result was presented in the 21st speech on human rights and freedoms, GoGoMongolia reported.

The Parliament of Mongolia approved the resolution on evaluating circumstances of the loss of human life and health in military service, preventing crimes and violations, detecting irregular military relations, taking preventive measures and monitoring the implementation. Duties were assigned to the government and relevant institutions. The National Human Rights Commission worked in seven units of the armed forces to check the implementation of this resolution.

In particular, the National Human Rights Commission made a conclusion that the risk of accidents, deaths, and unfortunate events will not decrease if soldiers continue doing household and back-office work and services.

B.Enkhbold, a member of the National Commission for Human Rights, informed about the requirement to provide compensation, assistance and support to citizens who have suffered health and emotional damage during military service.

The National Human Rights Commission investigated 126 cases in 2021. 15 of them were death cases during military service. 4 cases were resolved by the court. One case was dismissed, and four people were charged with criminal responsibility in the other three cases. 67 out of 126 cases were decided by the court. 44.5% of them were dismissed on the grounds that it was a suicide or an unfortunate incident.
