AKIPRESS.COM - Samarkand hosts an International Forum on the experience of Uzbekistan and member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in supporting women, UzA reported.
It is attended by almost 40 foreign guests from 20 countries – representatives of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Women Development Organization of the OIC, authorized representatives of the UN Office and its structures in Uzbekistan, heads of government agencies, representatives of the government, civil society institutions dealing with family and women in OIC member states.
The opening of the forum featured a video message from Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, Chairperson of the Republican Commission on Improving the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and Family Tanzila Narbayeva.
The event was attended by Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs Tarig Ali Bakheet, and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Zulaykho Mahkamova.
The forum is organized to strengthen the role of women in society and government, expand their rights and opportunities, and further develop cooperation and exchange experience between OIC member states.
