AKIPRESS.COM - The Cabinet of Ministers made a decision to build a metro line in Ulaanbaatar at the meeting on November 22, Chair of the National Committee on the Reduction of Traffic Congestion Delgersaikhan Borkhuu and governor of the capital Nyambaatar Khishgee announced.
The chair and the governor were tasked to organize works for the construction of high-capacity public transport (metro) in Ulaanbaatar city between 2024-2027.
The relevant members of the government were assigned to conduct preliminary estimates and sources for the construction of metro in the transverse direction, including Peace Avenue, and submit the proposal to the Parliament by 2023. Necessary costs for the development of the feasibility study of the project, detailed blueprint, and other documents of the project will be included in the capital's budget for 2024.
Design tenders will be announced in December 2023, and construction and installation tenders in January 2024. A design contract will be signed with the contractor in February 2024. The contract with the general contractor will be signed in April 2024. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2024.
It is planned that the opening ceremony will take place in June 2024, and the construction of the metro will be completed in 2027. It is planned to put the metro into operation in 2028.
The question of an overground metro to Khoshigtiin Khondii Airport was also raised during the discussion, said Chair of the National Committee on the Reduction of Traffic Congestion Delgersaikhan Borkhuu.
