AKIPRESS.COM - The Cooperation Agreement on creating a mega plant and distribution hub in Tashkent region of Uzbekistan was signed with the help of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore, UzA reports.
The online signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmanov, Head of Tashkent region Zoir Mirzayev, and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Directors of Singapore's Wilmar International Limited Kuok Khoon Hong.
The project provides for creating a mega plant in Tashkent region for producing flour products, vegetable oils, and high-protein feeds with an initial project cost of $100 million in direct investment from Wilmar International Limited. The project's feasibility study will be completed in the first half of this year.
According to the Singaporean side, the construction of this plant will provide a strategic opportunity to include Uzbekistan in the global Wilmar supply chain, and the development of the distribution center will position Uzbekistan as a significant regional and global exporter to the markets of Central Asia and the Middle East and other countries.
