Foreign Minister of Mongolia discusses development of sports with IOC President

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs and leader of the Mongolian team for the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympics B. Battsetseg met with President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach on January 19, Montsame reports.

Foreign Minister Battsetseg provided information to the President of the IOC about the development of Mongolian sports and the team athletes. The sides considered the possibility of expanding cooperation in  future, and exchanged views on the sports education of youth.

Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Battsetseg expressed the desire to host the Asian Games and the Youth Summer Olympics in Mongolia. President Thomas Bach responded positively, stating that he will look into it.

The Foreign Minister also met with Patama Leeswadtrakul, a member of the International Olympic Committee and Vice President of the Badminton World Federation. The Foreign Minister provided information about the World Women's Forum, scheduled to be held in Ulaanbaatar in August 2024. Leeswadtrakul was invited to the event, and both parties exchanged opinions on sports development, cooperation, and women's leadership.

The "Gangwon 2024" Winter Youth Olympics will continue from January 19 to February 1, 2024. Mongolia's team is participating in this Winter Games with the largest number of athletes in its history, totaling 12.
