Bone marrow transplantation department may apprear in National Child Health Care Center in Bishkek

AKIPRESS.COM - Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev met with Sheikh Muhammad Abdulrahman Al-Shaya, founder and chairman of the board of the Kuwait Al-Safa Charity Foundation.

They visited the pediatric oncology and oncohematology departments of the National Maternal and Child Health Care Center.

The Health Minister and the Sheikh visited the departments of the Center and talked with patients.

Alymkadyr Beishenaliev thanked the charity foundation for assistance to the health care system of Kyrgyzstan. Previously, thanks to the Al-Safa Foundation, a modern clinical diagnostic department was built for children with cancer and other diseases.

"Thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Al-Safa Foundation, the quality of medical care provided to children at the National Child Health Care Center has significantly increased, the equipment and qualifications of doctors have improved," said the director of the center, Shairbek Sulaimanov.

As a result of the visit, the parties agreed on further cooperation in order to develop children's oncology services in Kyrgyzstan.

The Minister instructed the center's management to begin work on organizing a bone marrow transplantation department at the National Child Health Care Center. Sheikh Muhammad Abdulrahman Al-Shaya supported the Minister's proposal and promised to allocate $150,000 for purchase of medical equipment for collecting stem cells, which is key in bone marrow transplantation.

The Health Minister also held a meeting with pediatric oncologists and laboratory technicians, where he gave instructions to form a team of 10 specialists to be sent abroad for training in bone marrow transplantation.
