AKIPRESS.COM - The International Institute for Central Asia hosted a meeting with Country Director of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan with an office in Tashkent Joachim Fritz, UzA reports.

The GIZ representative emphasized the uniqueness of establishing IICA as the only research center in the region, designed to conduct targeted research and develop proposals to strengthen regional cooperation.

The parties noted the presence of common ground and goals in the activities of IICA and GIZ, which serve as the basis for practical interaction between the institutions.

It was noted that the activities of this international structure in the region cover the priority areas of cooperation outlined in the final declaration of the high-level summit in the Central Asia + Germany format held in Berlin last September.

In particular, a representative of the German Society for International Cooperation informed about the implementation of 13 projects aimed at creating a barrier-free trade environment in Central Asia, strengthening the rule of law and preventing extremism, increasing human resources, strengthening dialogue on transboundary water resources and the transition to a green economy.

One of the main directions of GIZ projects is assistance in training and improving human resources qualifications by organizing special courses and training in various areas.

GIZ's assistance in developing and presenting the Regional Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change in Central Asia at the last UN climate conference in Dubai was emphasized.

The sides agreed to maintain working contacts and conduct joint events to strengthen the regional dialogue on the most pressing issues on the current agenda.
