Delegation of Uzbekistan discusses cooperation with European Parliament

AKIPRESS.COM - A roundtable discussion was organized in the European Parliament on the development of a partnership between Uzbekistan and the European Union, with the participation of MEPs and representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the European Commission, as part of the Uzbekistan delegation's visit to Brussels, UzA reports.

The parties exchanged views on the priorities for further developing multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union and implementing initiatives in the "Central Asia – EU" format.

In his speech, the European Parliament Rapporteur for Uzbekistan, Bulgarian politician Ilhan Kyuchyuk, said that the European Union considers Uzbekistan a key partner, which has been the focus of European deputies' attention in recent years.

The European side expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan's leadership for the attention paid to developing mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation with the EU. It was noted that the European Union considers Uzbekistan a strategically important state in Central Asia, whose policies contribute to improving the entire range of EU relations with the region.

The need to intensify interaction between the EU and Uzbekistan in trade and investment, transport, energy, cultural and humanitarian connectivity, mobility, and contacts between people was emphasized.
