China Nuclear Uranium may be involved in development of uranium mines in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan may attract the Chinese company China Nuclear Uranium Co. Ltd to develop black shale uranium mines, the press service of Navoiyuran reports.

On March 11, the general director of the Navoiyuran state enterprise, Jamol Fayzullayev, and representatives of China Nuclear Uranium discussed the production of black shale uranium at the “Jantuar” and “Madanli” deposits in the Navoi region, Kun.uz reported.

Geological research was carried out at the “Madanli” and “Koscheka” areas, located in the Auminzatau mountains.

Technological samples were studied at the “Madanli” deposit. To develop this area, the technology for extracting uranium and other rare elements from the ore composition, technological samples were taken.

In July 2023, Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved measures to increase uranium mining and processing in the country. The President instructed to double the production and processing of uranium raw materials. If in 2021 the production volume was 3,526 tons of uranium, then for 2030 a target of 7,100 tons was set.

In November, Navoiyuran and the Chinese China National Nuclear Corporation agreed to cooperate in the field of uranium mining and processing in Uzbekistan. State-owned companies signed a memorandum of cooperation and also considered a number of investment projects in the uranium industry.
