Belarusian Commodity Exchange plans to increase export of agricultural products to Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange is set to diversify the commodity structure and increase the volume of exchange supplies of Belarusian farm produce to the Mongolian market following the negotiations and meetings with the business in Mongolia, BelTA reported.

The matter is about the export of dairy products and sugar, since these goods are among the most popular items among Mongolian consumers. This will ensure a stable flow of purchase bods and, as a result, positive dynamics of exchange trade, the BUCE press service noted.

"The first transaction with a resident of Mongolia was made in January 2024. Exchange trading between our countries is fledgling. So far, only products by Belarusian sugar mills have been supplied to the Mongolian market. To date, 1,400 tonnes of white crystalline sugar have been sold for a total of $771,000. We will continue working to attract additional buyers, including with the assistance of the BUCE broker in Mongolia. Mongolia is also interested in importing Belarusian milk powder and butter. An agreement on cooperation on these commodity items has been reached with four potential buyers - large enterprises of the food industry," the BUCE press service noted.

According to BUCE, non-resident companies purchased 7,700 tonnes of sugar, 9,100 tonnes of butter and 4,900 tonnes of skimmed and whole milk powder at exchange auctions in January-February 2024. The main markets for sugar were Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, and for dairy products - Russia and Serbia.
