AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Joomart Tokayev received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who is on a visit to Astana, on May 27, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

The parties emphasized that relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan have reached a qualitatively new level, acquiring the character of a strategic partnership. The sides agreed that contacts at the highest level play a decisive role in intensifying interaction between the two countries.

The high level of cooperation between the two states in a multilateral format, in particular within the UN, was noted.

During the conversation, topical issues of further development of Turkmen-Kazakh bilateral cooperation in priority areas of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian nature were discussed. The parties emphasized the effective nature of intergovernmental, interparliamentary, interdepartmental and interministerial relations.

There was also an exchange of views on current issues of the regional and international agenda of mutual interest.
