AKIPRESS.COM - President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye Alparslan Bayraktar on July 31, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

The President noted that the centuries-old Turkmen-Turkish relations became a solid foundation for the implementation of priority tasks in the political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. A special place in the multifaceted Turkmen-Turkish partnership is given to the trade and economic sphere. The Turkmen side stressed that Türkiye occupies one of the leading positions in the foreign trade turnover of the country.

During the meeting, the head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan is one of the countries rich in natural resources, and is ready to continue cooperation with Türkiye in the energy sector. He highlighted the transportation of Turkmen gas to Türkiye and then to European countries as one of the most important cooperation issues.

The sides discussed agreements reached during the visit of Chairman of the People's Assembly of Turkmenistan Gurbaguly Berdimuhamedov to Türkiye in March. These agreements serve as an important legal basis for further expansion of bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector, they stated.

The parties also exchanged views on the ongoing construction of a combined cycle power plant on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. Its commissioning will allow the export of Turkmen electricity to neighboring states via the Caspian Sea, as well as supply it to Türkiye and other countries.

The interlocutors expressed confidence that strategic interstate cooperation will continue to develop successfully.

The delegation, which arrived in Turkmenistan headed by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye Alparslan Bayraktar, held meetings with the heads of the State Corporation "Türkmengeologiýa" and the Ministry of Energy as part of the planned events.
