AKIPRESS.COM - President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar said following Tuesday's meeting with her counterpart Khürelsükh Ukhnaa in Ulaanbaatar that both Slovenia and Mongolia are committed to democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights, and both are also strong supporters of multilateralism and respect for international law.
Slovenia and Mongolia share efforts and goals, the President said. Both are committed to democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights. The countries pursue similar goals in international relations, such as strong support for multilateralism, the women's rights, peace and security, respect for international law, the importance of accountability, and sustainable development, Nataša Pirc Musar added.
Both countries face many similar challenges, including risks related to climate change and security issues arising from regional and global geopolitical shifts. The past winter was one of the worst winters in recent years for Mongolia, while Slovenia suffered from catastrophic floods last year. These challenges require closer cooperation and integration between like-minded countries, solidarity and increased diplomatic efforts, the President said.
President Nataša Pirc Musar discussed these issues with President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa. The sides also signed a declaration on cooperation following the talks.
The state visit will also include the first Slovenian-Mongolian business forum focusing on cooperation opportunities in pharmaceutics, smart agriculture, nutrition, digitalization and artificial intelligence, which will also be attended by a business delegation from Slovenia. Companies such as Krka, Medex, Duol, Adventure Travel, Emr Svet, Impact Hero GMBH, Tajfun Planina, Enetra and others see opportunities to expand their operations in Mongolia, and the business forum will be a platform for establishing contacts with partners.
The President of Slovenia also met with Speaker of the Parliament Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve and Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai. She discussed with them issues of strengthening bilateral relations in the political, economic and other spheres, as well as cooperation in international organizations.
The talks focused on cooperation in the spheres of women's rights, peace and security, gender equality, as well as EU-Mongolia relations and the international agenda with a focus on Ukraine, the security situation in North-East Asia and the situation in Central Asia.
