Iran, Turkmenistan sign bilateral documents

AKIPRESS.COM - The national leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian held talks in Iran.

The parties discussed priority issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and also exchanged views on a number of topical regional and international issues.

Following the talks, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held. These include a cooperation program for 2025-2026 between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, a memorandum of understanding on sister city relations between the international seaport of Turkmenbashi and the port of Amirabad, a memorandum of understanding on the development of cooperation between the state concern "Turkmengas" and the National Gas Company of Iran, as well as a plan of joint activities to expand cooperation for 2025-2026 between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran. These documents were signed by the heads of the relevant departments in the presence of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Masoud Pezeshkian.

The national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Tehran, also met with the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei highly appreciated the level of centuries-old and dynamically developing in the current era relations between Turkmenistan and Iran, based on the principles of friendship, brotherhood, good neighborliness and mutual respect.

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, emphasized that today Turkmen-Iranian cooperation is distinguished by its dynamics. The current working visit to Iran is a clear evidence of the great importance that Ashgabat attaches to cooperation with Tehran, which is among the main strategic partners of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the interlocutors spoke in favor of expanding productive interaction, which has enormous potential and broad prospects in various sectors, including in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
