Tajikistan and UN University sign Memorandum of Understanding

AKIPRESS.COM - Tajikistan and the United Nations University (UNU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on academic and scientific collaboration on the sidelines of the Summit of the Future in New York on September 22, the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan reported. This Memorandum of Understanding aims to enhance academic and scientific collaboration between Tajikistan and UNU.

The partnership seeks to address critical global environmental challenges, with a particular focus on issues related to water, environment, health, food security, agriculture, climate change, biodiversity, and sustainability transitions.

The collaboration will promote the sharing of knowledge, capacity-building initiatives, and policy-relevant research to support the efforts of Tajikistan and the United Nations at national, regional, and global levels. It will also strengthen science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development initiatives, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Rector of the United Nations University Tshilidzi Marwala signed the document during a ceremony at the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan to the UN in New York.
