AKIPRESS.COM - The U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic announced the release of the Kyrgyz-language translation of “Coding for Teens” by Jeremy Moritz. This effort was a partnership between the U.S. Embassy and the Taalim-Forum Public Foundation to increase access to educational materials for children in the Kyrgyz language. The book provides teenagers with a unique opportunity to learn the basics of one of the most popular programming languages ​​- JavaScript.

The U.S. Embassy celebrated the book’s release alongside Deputy Minister of Education and Science Lira Samykbaeva September 26 at the Bishkek American Corner, located in the K. Bayalinov National Library. After a short ceremony that included a video message from Mr. Moritz, computer teachers from schools across Bishkek participated in a mini master class that introduced the structure of the book and how it can help teens learn programming.

The Book Translation Program seeks to make knowledge more accessible in Kyrgyz, while encouraging reading among students and promoting the growth of the local publishing industry.  The translated books are distributed free of charge at the eight American Corners, as well as in schools and public libraries throughout the country.
