AKIPRESS.COM - The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, criticized tightening of the migration policy in Russia.
He said that some of the measures being taken — Kadyrov did not specify which ones — "are frustrating, to put it mildly." "If migration policy is to be changed, then not in such a disgusting way, when they viciously attack all non-locals who come to hand. They detain without any ceremony, and recently these measures have been carried out very harshly," the head of Chechnya said on his Telegram channel.
In his opinion, "someone is deliberately pitting Russia against its neighboring fraternal regions." Ramzan Kadyrov believes it is impossible to resolve the migration problem by mass deportation of citizens of other countries. He placed responsibility for the problems in the sphere of migration on those who "should have dealt with issues within their competence," but have not ensured any control.
According to Kadyrov, inciting hatred towards migrants will not lead to anything good. Instead, it is necessary to establish a competent system of control in this area, "but in no way subject citizens of other countries to a disorderly inquisition. It is necessary to eliminate the causes, and not deal with their consequences," he wrote.
Ramzan Kadyrov noted that in addition to lawbreakers among migrants, there are law-abiding people, of whom there are many more. "I urge you to abandon these medieval approaches and engage in a targeted solution to the issue," the head of Chechnya added.
The Russian authorities decided to tighten migration legislation after the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, during which four natives of Tajikistan first opened fire and then set the building on fire. 145 people were killed and more than 500 were injured. Ramzan Kadyrov then called for preventing "civil persecution on ethnic or religious grounds." Currently, several bills aimed at changing migration policy in Russia are under consideration by the State Duma. According to these bills, organizing illegal migration can be equated to especially serious crimes, and illegal stay in the country can be considered an aggravating circumstance when sentencing. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called tightening migration a priority for the State Duma in this session.
