Malaysia explores investment opportunities in Uzbekistan's Islamic finance market

AKIPRESS.COM - Malaysia could become one of the first countries to enter Uzbekistan's Islamic banking sector, following discussions between Uzbekistan's embassy officials and the President and CEO of the Export-Import Bank of Malaysia (EXIM Bank), Nurbayu Binti Kasim Chang, Kun.uz reported.

During the meeting, both sides explored the prospects of EXIM Bank providing financial resources to Uzbekistan's commercial banks and establishing mutually beneficial partnerships. The conversation focused on collaborating with financially stable state and private banks in Uzbekistan that meet international ratings and standards.

Given Malaysia’s extensive experience in Islamic banking, Uzbekistan extended an invitation to EXIM Bank to be among the pioneers entering the country’s Islamic banking and takaful (Islamic insurance) markets.

EXIM Bank’s president expressed readiness to hold separate meetings with Malaysian companies looking to invest in Uzbekistan. These discussions will focus on a detailed analysis of each company’s projects and provide them with favorable financial resources.
