AKIPRESS.COM - The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has published its 17th annual report of Global Innovation Index 2024.
The Global Innovation Index (GII) ranks world economies according to their innovation capabilities. Consisting of roughly 80 indicators, grouped into innovation inputs and outputs, the GII aims to capture the multi dimensional facets of innovation.
This edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII) ranks the most innovative economies in the world in 2024 amongst 133 economies and unveils the world’s top S&T innovation clusters.
This year, the Global Innovation Index also reveals how to foster innovation via social entrepreneurship to make a societal impact that benefit everyone everywhere.
Thus, in the GII ranking, Kyrgyzstan scored 20.4 points, which allowed the country to take the 99th place out of 133. Among the Central and South Asian states, Kyrgyzstan showed a more modest result compared to India (39th place and 38.3 points), Iran (64th place and 28.9 points) and Kazakhstan (78th place and 25.7 points). In the ranking of EAEU countries, Kyrgyzstan ceded to Russia (59th place and 29.7 points) and Armenia (63rd place and 29.7 points), as well as Kazakhstan and Belarus (85th place and 24.2 points).
All countries in the region have shown steady improvement over the past decade. Uzbekistan has achieved the best results, followed by Iran, Pakistan and India. Among the countries that have exceeded expectations in innovation relative to their level of development, India, Moldova and Vietnam are leading. All of them showed high results unexpectedly.
