AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a videoconference with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
During the meeting, the sides underlined the constructive nature of relations between the countries, especially in such spheres as trade and economy, energy, transport, logistics and others.
The U.S. side highly appraised the progress made by Turkmenistan in fulfilling its international commitments on climate change since the country joined the Global Methane Pledge. Geoffrey Pyatt also noted Turkmenistan's cooperation with American companies Tetrotech and Deloitte in the implementation of climate initiatives and projects.
In addition, the parties discussed key issues on the agenda of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) to be held in Baku.
They agreed on further development of cooperation on countering climate change and in other areas of mutual interest.
