AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takeshi Iwaya held a telephone conversation on November 8, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
During the conversation, the parties discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The high level of interstate relations based on a trusting dialogue at the highest political level was noted. The interlocutors noted the importance of joint preparations for the upcoming first Central Asia + Japan Summit at the level of heads of state.
The parties emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries. An exchange of views took place on the agenda of the next inter-MFA consultations scheduled for the near future.
The Ministers also noted the importance of partnership between the two countries in the trade and economic sphere. The Japanese companies expressed interest in developing cooperation with the Turkmen side, in particular in such areas as "green" energy, decarbonization, and gas chemistry. The importance of the activities of joint committees on economic cooperation was emphasized.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on upcoming events with the participation of both countries. The prospects for the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka were also discussed.
