AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser held a meeting in Baku, UzA reported.
The sides discussed issues of enhancing cooperation. The President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated the dynamic development of the partnership with the Bank. A meeting of the Arab Coordination Group headed by the bank was successfully held in Tashkent in March, with the participation of leading financial institutions of the Islamic world.
The portfolio of projects with the Bank has exceeded $4 billion, 40% of which are in the private sector.
The capital of the joint Economic Empowerment Fund for Uzbekistan, created with the bank's participation, is consistently being formed.
Special attention was paid to enhancing practical interaction in implementing new projects and programs in education, healthcare, infrastructure, ecology, entrepreneurship, mobilization of private investment, and the active involvement of bank structures in project activities.
Views were exchanged on the issue of the Bank's participation in financing large investment projects in the industry and extractive sector of Uzbekistan.
