AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Salvatore Sciacchitano, Akorda press service reported.
The sides discussed the prospects for developing the aviation sector during the meeting.
The President noted that the level of Kazakhstan's compliance with the ICAO international standards reached 82%, which compares to the level of the leading European countries.
According to Tokayev, the implementation of the consistent measures to modernize airports, increase the aircraft fleet and introduction of the open skies regime led to significant expansion in the geography of flights and increased number of international flights.
Salvatore Sciacchitano congratulated Kazakhstan on the progress in the field of civil aviation and stated the readiness for further cooperation to ensure the safety and regularity of air traffic. He also expressed gratitude for opening Kazakhstan's ICAO Permanent Mission in Montreal and shared his plans to visit Astana next year.
