Uzbekistan and Global Green Growth Institute sign agreement on allocation of $6.5 million grant on green economy

AKIPRESS.COM - First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Norkulov met with Deputy Director General and Head of the Green Growth Planning and Implementation Division at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Helena McLeod, UzA reported

The parties discussed the current state of the mutually implemented projects. In particular, the directions of cooperation within the framework of the assistance project on the implementation of the Paris Agreement by Uzbekistan and support for joint actions with the Republic of Korea were considered.

This project assists the government in implementing economic reforms and creating the necessary conditions for stable economic development. It is planned to provide assistance in attracting green investments, supporting initiatives for climate-adaptive agriculture and forestry, strategic environmental assessment, green financing, and the development of carbon markets.

The parties signed a framework agreement "On supporting the transition to a green economy", which ensured a $6.5 million grant allocation.
